DIOCESAN NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Nominations for diocesan
positions requiring election at convention will be open until August. Cynthia will see if the committee will be
holding a meeting. George Hemingway
stated that the meetings are often held at inconvenient times for working folks
and young people. Would like us to
discuss this issue at an upcoming convocation meeting.
DIOCESAN COUNCIL/BUDGET REPORT
Miki Grove reported that
a written booklet is being prepared for Canon Itty, on the work of the
committees and commissions, so that he will be aware of what is going on in the diocese. The transitional budget was presented and
discussed. Miki says that the budget
will be balanced. Miki and Ted
Rodrigues will let diocesan council know that a budget narrative for line items
needs to be given to convocations and that we are requesting a member of
program and budget come to our September meeting to discuss the budget in more
detail.
CELEBRATIONS AND GIFT FOR BISHOP LADEHOFF
As has been published,
there will be celebrations at three different locations for Bishop Ladehoff and
that the building of a chapel at Triangle Lake will be his gift. Mary Cramer was not present to give her
report.
CONVOCATION FOCUS
A discussion of what this
convocation is about was held and we “brain stormed” ideas. Those ideas are presented on a separate page
in this report and members are asked to review them for discussion at our next
meeting in September.
CONVOCATION EVENT
Paul Brodie presented an
outreach idea for the convocation – a benefit for Oregon Food Bank at
McMenamin’s Grand Lodge in Forest Grove.
The idea was discussed with much
enthusiam, and a motion was given and seconded to support the benefit. The tentative date is Thursday evening,
August 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. More
details will be forthcoming.
