Fr. Falkowski, of St. Stephens, and a member of Program and Budget, presented the revised Diocesan Budget, mainly explaining the changes made since our last meeting. We had asked for a narrative budget, but he said that is not possible for this year. Has asked us to propose it for next year.
Paul Brodie reported that the fund raiser, held on August 27th, was very successful. It was well attended and gave the food bank $2,418, plus 420 lbs of canned goods. He asked if each congregation would give $100 of their outreach budget toward next year’s event. Cynthia amended the suggestion to read that larger congregations give $100, and small congregations give $50. She also asked if parishes could also give something toward this year’s benefit, as Paul paid for much of it himself. A committee will be formed to organize next year’s event.
Since there was not enough time to discuss the brainstorming suggestions (refer to addendum to last meeting’s minutes), Cynthia posted the ideas and asked people to put “focus dots” next to the suggestions that were important to them (see addendum attached).
Marilynn and Cynthia asked that each parish print information in their newsletters about convocation happenings (especially outreach).
The next convocation meeting will be SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2,
2:00 P.M., at
ALL SAINTS, HILLSBORO. At our next meeting we will plan meeting dates for next year. Diocesan Convention will in Corvallis – November 20-22. We will hold our annual convocation Chinese luncheon at the convention on Friday, November 21.
The meeting was adjourned with a blessing given by The Rev. Robert Bryant.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Dorscheimer
Secretary
